I leave on the 20th, so need my studio by the 19th at least! However, i have a horrible feeling that this won't happen. So what good alternatives are there, that i would be able to go and pick up from a shop? I paid £572 for the following spec:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5550 (1.83 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)

3072MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [1x2048+1x1024]

256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3450

250GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive

Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1- English

Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Slot Load Drive including Software

Dell Wireless 1397 Mini Card (802.11 b/g)

Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module

Primary 6-cell 56 WHr Lithium Ion battery

Dicota Backpack for laptops up to 15.4" - Black

2.0 Mega pixel Integrated Web Camera - CCFL

Topo Pattern Design with Red U Trim

15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife™

Bearing in mind that is with a carry case as well, what can come close to that spec for the money that i can get within 3-5 days? Assuming dell don't hurry their arses up?

Not sure how you feel about the Asus F8 range, they're only 14.1" screens but the same resolution as the one you picked. Can be had with T5750 (2.0GHz) CPU, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD and a 256MB 9300M for £550 with a 2 year warranty.

I got a Bgrade Inspiron 1520 for £370..

2Ghz C2D, 2GB 677, 8600mGT, 15" trulife 1280x800, 250GB 5400rpm, DVDRW, wifi, webcam etc..

I can't say which competitor I bought it from (it's based in Manchester), but you can easily get the same spec for <£400 :)

The only think that made it B-grade was a very slight imperfection in the lid.. purely cosmetic, and only noticeable if your eyes are on the lid :p
