Alternative to Finder?

I'm new to Macs, and I'm really not getting on with Finder. Is there a reasonable and cheap/free alternative, which works a little more like Windows Explorer?

Finder is like Windows Explorer, but half as powerful and ten times as frustrating to use.

This is my issue. I accept that there's a learning curve when moving from MS to OS X, however it seems that I've yet to be blinded by the mantra that everything churned out of Cupertino is perfect. Finder just seems a bit, well, '90s I suppose. I had higher expectations...

Anyhoo, I'll give PathFinder a go, as a mate of mine suggested it when I asked earlier today.
