Alternative to iTunes on PC

I've just bought a nano for the gym (better than lugging my classic around!) and for several years I've been using Anapod to get my music onto my iPod.

Aside from Anapod and iTunes, what alternatives are there (preferably free) please?

Sharepod. For general music malarkey, try Mediamonkey.

You can use winamp, but i've never tried it.

On the topic of Itunes

As i have my old Itunes folder backed up on ext HDD. Every time i goto load back again a few albums have locked

as i've done this quite a few times,my father also uses Itunes (on Mac) i've used a few of his songs too.

Or is there a better alternative for both me and my father?

I would have said Anapod but it ties you down to 1 iPod per account (around $20).

Well i would need 2 anyway as i use windows / dad uses Mac

Would it be hasstle to move him over to Windows?! (though his ipod would all be registerd via Mac)

where do you guys get music from that dont use Itunes?
My dad likes Itunes as everything is in one place trying to convice him that Itunes is fail

Just downloaded sharepod mysel because as far as I'm aware in iTunes you can't just select the songs you want to sync. You got to do playlists or pick artists and not everything I want on my itouch has something under artists

was simple: plugged iPod in, closed iTunes, dragged and dropped in 50 songs and took a matter of seconds!
Tried to put the same song in and it stopped it

what a great program! And as you can add to it wherever you are (sure it said that). = win!

Just tried to put more songs on - it says they failed in the failed to copy. though they were copied lol :S
"Failed to import (location).mp3 value of '97' is not valid for indexstart. indexstart must be less than or equal to 24 parameter name: indexstart

tried more songs and a lot more coming up with that error, and some not syncing - time to try find out why!
