Lets face it, itunes isnt the best software Apple has released, its a right resource hog and a really slow piece of software (windows, running on a Phenom x4, 8gb ram, Windows 7 64bit machine, so should run fine)..

Are there any good alternatives out there? It would need to be able to copy music, install apps and copy files within apps.. iTunes does all this, but I wouldnt mind trying something else.

Your problem really rings true with me! iTunes is installed on my SSD on my Windows PC and it's still clunky and bloated.

I've been looking for a good alternative to iTunes on Windows for ages. The only one I've been able to get working (Syncing to my 6th Gen iPod) is Winamp with the custom iPod plugin. My wife has a 3GS and I've had to stick with iTunes unfortunately as I can't find anything to sync that works with iOS 5.

I've not opened iTunes since using iClound to backup my iPhone. Agree though, hate it running in the background for the little use it gets.
I could do with making a script to run the services just when I need to sync my music.
