what are you guys using to copy a complete ssd image to a new larger ssd, i see macrium is no longer free.

my apps PC only has a 256gb m.2 and i want to swap it with a 500gb or 1tb. without re-installing anything.

It seems that Hasleo (and I think AOMEI) have now put the System Clone feature in the paid home version only. Still if no other option you can backup drive to an image and restore, though you would need to find a 250GB partition to store the temporary image on so gets messy.

See if your ssd manufacturer offers
A free cloning/imaging software
Most do either in their toolbox or as a
Standalone product

Macrium free version will still work fine
To do the job
Just it won't receive updates anymore
Tbh in all the years I have used Macrium theres only ever
Been 1 critical update i remember that required
A necessity of getting the update
Forgot the exact reason
But something like Microsoft changed how shadow volume copy /vss
Worked

Anyone tried Clonezilla with Windows as i've only ever used it with Linux?
It works fine, but it's a bit annoying to use if you are also using Bitlocker, as I don't think it supports it, or at least it didn't when I used it. I think you have to entirely decrypt the drive first, suspending bitlocker didn't seem to work for me.

I used Macrium reflect free version for my sn850x, 990 Pro and 990 Evo Plus over the weekend. Only had to disable bitlocker on my Alloy X. Which isn't needed anyway.

Still works !

I think i'm at the stage in life that if i've been impressed by a free version I will pony up the extra for a fuller version. Maybe I'm repenting for using X-copy pro too much in my younger days

Haven’t heard of X-copy for many years :D was this on the Amiga and was it in German by any chance? lol might have just been my copy.

Shame they never created anything for Windows.

CloneZilla because of it's purpose "Cloning" and "Zilla" suggests big or powerful.

RescueZilla is just CloneZilla with a fancier front end - hence being named after CloneZilla

If I’d had thought of Mozilla and the logo then the penny would have probably dropped.
