alternative to windows movie maker

I want to make a simple movie but windows movie maker keeps crashing because i am trying to edit avi movies that are around 400mb each (and 60 of them)

What is a good but simple program?

- sorry, not sure which part to put this in, windows or programming, i will let dons decide.

Pinnacle? £40 for the no-frills version, £100 for the all-in version.

There might be something free out there though, I'd wait for a few more posts

Probably get shouted at here but some versions of Magix have decent video editing built in.. Not great but can handle sufficient clips etc.

Pinnacle or Sony Vegas are supposed to be good. I have used Pinnacle and found it to be useable.

Virtualdub is really quick. Doesn't have fancy effects, though.

Camtasia Studio. Bit slow.

movie maker in vista should be more stable...try that

It did crash in Vista for me when i used to try it!
