I am looking to change my front tyres, I own a 55plate Seat Leon fr tdi with 225,45,17 tyres

My last few pairs I have bought have been Goodyear Eagle F1s which I have been very happy with, however they do seem to have a bit of a short life and latest set lasted 9500miles. For a similar budget what do other people recommend (around 110 a corner), with perhaps a slightly longer life?

I bought pilot sport 3s the same size as yours a couple of weeks ago. I paid £235 for them fitted on my driveway by Kwik Fit and claimed a £50 fuel voucher which made that price acceptable.

So far they have been fine. Good grip up to now in mixed weather.

They supposedly have a decent life span over f1s

Ok, will add them to the short list as look to have good reviews elsewhere, another which has popped up in a few places is the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT but can't find much about if it wears down quickly or not....

I had read the sport maxx were decent in quite a few different places but had first hand experience of them for a couple of weeks as they were on the wheels I bought for the e46.

Wet grip is crap, especially given the price bracket they compete in. No idea of wear but they don't hold a candle to sport contact 5's or the F1's in anything other than dry conditions

Think the closest to the F1 ASY2's are the Continental Conti Sport 5's, or failing that, the Michelin Super Sport's - though these are likely to be out of budget.

What version of Eagle F1s was that?

I've had Conti Sport Contact 5s on my Mondeo for around 20k miles and they are just nearing 3mm.

I'm going to have to change them before the winter but will be going for another set, I've been very impressed with them.

I put Eagle F1 Asymmetric 1s on my dad's E60 530d when I had it and they had good grip and ride but didn't last long.
