Hello all,

I've downloaded the X-lite voip software for the broadband talk with Plusnet, i'm having issues setting it up and would like to know if anyone else has other software that you can use for Plusnet's broadband (voip) talk?

If so what have you got, and is it easy to set up?

Cheers

I've always used Skype and never had any problems. I'm not with Plusnet anymore but I think they started throttling the speeds and I think that any other voip application is throttled appart from their own one. It might have changed since though.

I never knew PlusNET throttled speeds.

I can't seem to get the x lite package to work on my pc, even though i've followed the step by step instructions as given by Plusnet. I get an error "479 we don't accept private ip contacts", even though i've not specified any contacs not sure what it means.

I have no problem with "Skype" setup/software, and have a usb Ipevo phone which works fine, obviuosly on skype.

But to get this x lite working and use my usb phone, is proving somewhat of a b**mer. :(

i believe only on the lower packages i.e. £14.99 one has traffic shaping. however i left a few months ago, so things might have changed.

Nope, all packages see traffic shaping to some extent.
