Alternatives for a Renaultsport Clio?

Hi,

I'm in the market for a 00-05 Renaultsport Clio. Been looking for sometime with no luck. Apart from the Honda Civic Type-R, are there any other alternatives you would consider? Ta

Something similar in terms of performance and practicability for £3500

At 3.5k I would be looking at Leon Cupra R.

It should be easy to pick up a good RS Clio at the moment. Sign up to Cliosport.net and also the Clio Sport Owners Club on Facebook. Loads of nice examples appearing daily and plenty of advice on what to look for.

Love my RS, it's not for sale though!

Be looking at ropey Mini Cooper S's at £3.5k IMHO. Much better off getting a tidy RS Clio 182.

00-05 is 172 territory. £3.5k will buy a very tidy 172.

If you want to spend that, shift up to a 182. If you want a 172 save yourself a packet and you will still have plenty to chose from.

All the alternatives in this thread will cost more than either Clio option.

Wildcard entry Toyota Levin BZ-R AE111. Good luck finding one in the Uk. Dime and a dozen in Ireland though. BUT if you can find one 3k will easily get you a low mileage minter.

1000kg's, 165PS 1.6 engine, individual throttle boddies, 8.2k rpm, LSD and superstrut suspension as standard. Things the Clio could only dream of

(Yes I know this option is unrealistic but it is a possibility

).
