Alternatives to AVG?

Hey guys,

A friend of mine is having a few problems with avg free on his daughter's computer and has asked me if I can recommend any alternatives?

I use eset on my main machine and avg on my laptop etc, so I'm probably not the best person to ask

Could someone give me the lowdown any alternatives, or point me in the right direction

It has to be free though.

Avast. It has low system resource footprint and does a fantastic job (considering its free for home use) with its resident protection. It also picks up more viruses in my experience then AVG. I've only used Avira briefly and didn't think it was too bad, but I prefer Avast so I swapped back to that.

For free, has to be Avast.
