I took my MR2 off the road for Winter with the intention of installing a monster ICE system and various mods. Over the Winter my insurance, MOT and tax has now lapsed (there was no point renewing them as I didn't plan to use the car until around April time). Now that I've pretty much decided to sell the car and buy a VX220 instead I need to somehow get an MOT and insurance for when potential buyers come to look. The MOT won't be a problem as I can just get my girlfriend to drive it to the garage (her insurance on the CTR covers that) but what can I do when it comes to actually taking buyers out on a test drive.

Dayinsure don't cover imports or modified so they're no good but does anyone know of any alternative companies that can do short term insurance. I guess I could just let the buyer do all the driving but I'd prefer to take them out first. I don't want my girlfriend taking out passengers as she can't drive the 2 properly, she'll forget that my rev limit is 1000rpm lower than hers ;)

Any ideas?

Although legally I know I should get tax for the test drives I'm more concerned with just being insured.
I'll contact my old insurance company to see if they can do anything but I've got a feeling that they'll be expensive if they do (for 3 years they were cheap then suddenly they doubled their prices :()

I think I've found a solution. I will be insuring the VXT through Elephant so I thought I'd see if they would insure the MR2. In the past Elephant were always really expensive but I just did a quote and guess what? TPO on the MR2 is £287.65, bargain!!

So I think I'll just insure the MR2 TPO for now so I can get it taxed and MOT'd (and enjoy it for a little bit longer) then I'll just change the policy over to the VXT when the time comes (I guess there will be an admin fee, anyone know how much Elephant charge for changing cars during a policy?)
