After 10 long months of saving, i finally have enough money to book my trip to Tokyo.
Ive identifyed the hotel i want to stay in, 'the b akasaka'.
Im now looking for the lowest prices for flights.

The best ive managed to find/minimum time over there, is:
From 4th October.
To 18th October.
12 Nights
KLM Airlines
£1280.82

I'd ideally like to be there for 20 or so days.

Also, are there any general tips/places i should be looking for better offers? Like an alternative to Expedia?

Thanks in advance all. :)

Where would you be flying from? I recently got a flight from Manchester to Brisbane for around £600 when the inital quotes were around £1200. I got it through a company called dial-a-flight.

Just done a quick search and they have this:

Our Best Fare from STANSTED to TOKYO is from £327 (+ £85 tax).
Flying with TURKISH. Leaving on Wednesday, October 04, 2006, and returning on Tuesday, October 24, 2006.

Guys, I'm pretty sure his figure of £1280 is including hotel, which currently comes up at £836 for the 12 nights.

If the £1280 is including hotel for 12 nights, I really doubt you'd be able to find the same hotel with (any airline's) flight included for much less, unless you want to try stopping over at Moscow (Aeroflot) or some other undesirable airline. As it is, the flight is only costing £440 which is basically peanuts for a flight to Tokyo.

Well im aiming for about 2 weeks.
Im looking at a max of £1500. Preferably around £1300 though.
Im looking for a hotel with on site restaurant (emergency option), Aircon, internet access in rooms, multi-lingual staff & with a train station near by.

If anyone can find nout better? :)

For the hotel suggestions, try looking at Tripadvisor.com and type "Tokyo" into the search box. You will then be given a list of hotels in order of ratings given by people, and should be able to find one that fits your budget.

But just to clarify, £1280 - was it including hotel or without hotel?

Including flights, hotel, travel insurance, airport costs and whatever else expedia adds into the prices.

Have a look at the Conde Nast web site as they have loads of advice about practically everywhere that anyone would want to visit. They include hotels, restaurants and sites to visit.

you might want to try here BA Deals for flight/s (and try to get hotel separately see if you can get the price down, hotels.com or similar) Because they're closing their travel shops they have some great offers.
Click on the link on that page that says;

"Find out more about special offers" .......

and this takes you to links for £100 off world traveller ……..click on that and enter details,

we got £293 per person for leaving 12th Oct returning on 18th Oct Glasgow to heathrow then NY …….Continental is £500!!!

deals end 31st of this month I think and apply to anywhere :)

BA Deals is anything but from what ive just seen. £850 for the flights to Tokyo!
It appears that going through Expedia seems to be my cheapest/most flexable option.

I was thinking of travelling to Tokyo later this year, the price looks quite good TBH, but I was thinking of staying the hotel 'Lost in translation' was set in which might increase the cost quite a bit (budget not really an issue with me though), Not really sure what to do when I get there though?!?

One of the websites listed above lists loads to do.

One i didnt think of is visiting Mt. Fuji, which im gonna do now.

Im pretty much settled on this trip:

10th Oct to 26th Oct. 15 nights.
The b Akasaka Hotel.
Travel Insurance.
£1521.20

Just need to check a few other things, and then hopefully by the end of the day i should have it all booked. :D

yeah sorry :( it says 'there are no deals available' for that route , it did save us a considerable amount to NY and might help others

Are there any offers to Canada?
That was my second option for a distination behind Tokyo.
If the trip works out significantly cheaper, then i might consider it.

from the BA link

Flight Departing Heathrow (London), London, Wed 4 October 2006, 1 adult. £443.50

The hotel in "Lost in Translation" is the Park Hyatt Tokyo, in Shinjuku.

Unfortunately, it really depends on how literally you mean 'budget not really an issue with me" which determines whether you can stay there - the price is roughly £200-300 per night  (and I don't think I've ever seen a good (well, any) discount to speak of, at the PHT).

Barclays and Lloyds will both issue you with Visa Delta with their current accounts, which is usually accepted with no problems as a Visa card (but you only need to have the current account). Probably the best of both worlds if you don't necessarily want a credit card.

I recently booked rooms in Singapore through a website called AsiaRooms.com which was very good! So if you look for hotels in Tokyo through them and combine that with the flights through dialaflight.com it may work out cheaper than you are paying! If you have plenty to do, I don't really think it is worth spending lots on a hotel. Maybe that is driving the cost of your fare up a lot? What does that price through expedia break down into? How much are the flights and hotel seperately?
