I've been a happy user of Google Play Music for some years. I uploaded all of my own purchased music and I was able to play it back via the web interface or via an Android app. Everything was good.
Then I was forced to transfer over to YouTube Music - and it's horrible. All my music is available in the Android App, via the web I'm told I have no music in my library.

The interface is horrible, I'm bombarded with "you might likes" and every time I launch the app I have to decline the same offers to pay for subscriptions etc.

Are there any other platforms out there that allow me to upload my own music (not looking to share it), won't replace what I upload with inferior Bitrates, allow me to play back via Web and Android Apps and don't cost the earth?

I went round and round with this, I really gave YTM a chance. But it's total gash. Been using Spotify Duo Premium for about a month and it's such a step up. I should have changed years ago..

All the recommendations are totally on point, all the mixes created for you are great.. I keep having to stop what I'm doing to save new artists and songs it plays (that I don't know). And integration with socials like Instagram are great.

I love Spotify have been a premium subscriber for years and listen daily. It has pretty much everything I'd ever listen to, the high quality is great and the daily mixes are sweet. Plenty of good playlists, podcasts and most new releases on the release day. Good user interface and can download if you want.

Oh, the amount of new bands/artists and music styles I've explored on Spotify is endless. And as you say, pretty much all albums is on Spotify on release day too.

There are a few options as I have been using Google music for years and was mighty peeved to find out it was going. Then when I downloaded the YouTube Music app, fired up CarPlay only to get a message telling me I couldnt use it without being a premium user. Sod that.

The CloudBeats app lets your add music from various sources, Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox etc.

I have all my music on my Nas. Attached to the Nas is a original Nvidia Shield TV that I keep just as a Plex server for the wife/kids mainly as its easy for them to use (I use Vero 4k + running Kodi on main TV).

Prism is a great music app that allows you to add a Plex library without the need for Plex Pass subscription.

Plexamp is great also, but that does require a Plex pass.
