Hi there, I've just hooked up my new alumni 9 sub to my current set up, which is an azur 340a amp and a pair of mordaunt short 902i's. I'm running the speaker cable from the amp to the sub, then out to the speakers as my amp doesn't have a pre out or anything like that.

However I get no output from the sub at all unless the volume, frequency and phase are all turned up as far as they go, help:confused:

Weirdly if I change the balance to one speaker entirely I get a decent sound from the sub

Sorry you'll have to treat me like a bit of a n00b, you mean are the wires positive and negative the right ways?

Crossover frequencies: ie. the frequencies at which the amp sends signals to the subwoofer. They're adjustable on my 606, and you also have to tell the audyssey system that a sub is present if it wasn't when you did the auto-setup.

Don't know about your amp though, check your manual for crossover settings.

Ant

Having looked around a bit, am I expecting too much from the high level inputs? I hooked it up to the system downstairs that has got a pre out and it worked beautifully, what am I doing wrong? lol

I have an Azur 640A amp. Mordaunt Short 902i speakers and sub (can't remember the number now, lol). Anywho.... to get any sound out I had to connect the sub to "Rec Out" on the back of the amp. Do you have this on the back of the 340A?

I have "Pre Out", but like you, if I connect the sub to this.... I get no sound. My sub connects via normal phono (RCA) connections.
