Always show hidden folders in terminal

Hi,

Is there a setting to always show hidden . files/folders in terminal but not in say finder and the desktop?

I can do ls -a in terminal but can this be made the default for ls?

edit:
oh this is handy, using the Atom github text editor, it can open a folder where it populates the left hand folder treeview and shows all files by default.

Should be able to use an alias?

alias ls="ls -a"

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

killall Finder

... that'll do it everywhere. Don't think you can do it for different contexts though unfortunately.

It's common to have `la` aliased to `ls -la`. You get used to it very quickly!
