Was at a local breakers today picking up a few bits when we got talking about a car that had just arrived and was for sale there...a 2001 Mitsi Galant Sport V6 24v. Undamaged (think it had been lifted by the feds and confiscated for having no tax or something) and mot'd, what a price at £1100...i hate being broke!!!.

feds? were you in the USA?

last time I checked, Shropshire isn't one of the states. ;) :D

I know the feeling, I missed a mint (except lock damage - stolen recovered ) Escort RS1600i for £800 a couple of months ago, I phoned a mate who was after one, by the time he'd phoned up with his card, it had gone.

In the overall condition it was in, it was easily worth about £3k once the damage was repaired!

Guy who works out of our yard doing toilet hire delivers to a place where the guy has an RS1600i stuck outside of his (big) house. He's asked time and time again and the bloke won't part with it...he plans to restore it to as new in about ten years time and have some fun with it...

He'll have to do more than restore an RS1600i to have fun in it - it's basically a different looking XR3i. ;)

Lots of little differences mate...and about 20bhp more than an XR3i iirc. I did enjoy winding up one RS1600i owner who used to haunt the XROC years ago about the fact his car was just a German XR3i though...

Yes, this one had the twin ignition coils, those weird Recaro's, the RS Alloys (which whilst looking the same, are different to those on the RS Turbo.) - the lot.

I used to own an RS1600i years back, along with a similar XR3i a few months later - The RS was the better car imo, not to mention it was a lot nicer to rev hard than the '3i - it had a different cylinder head to the standard '3i.

Only 115BHP but, even compared to the RS Turbo's 132 BHP, it felt pretty good in its day.

You can see where the RS Turbo came from!

I'd like another one day.

To RSOC members, they are much sought after.

And a better cam and solid tappets...not to mention the sexiest rocker cover ever sold on any production Ford ever...
