No, waste of money wait for ATIs refresh. I'd rather save a bit more and get a 5970 personally.
Your gonna be screwed in a few months when ATI releases there updates. If you waited 6 months for a new Nvidia card then 6 months more isn't gonna hurt haha.

Was going to buy 2 of them, but HEAT and POWER could be an issue.
So i went with 2 5870s, a lot smoother than when I had 2 GTX 295s!!
I thought if I got 2 480s my HX1000 may need to be upgraded!!!
However They are still the fastest single GPU card out there + Physx.

I have one on order and cant wait to get my hands on it.
Man, I was really looking forward to getting a GTX 480!
Then I saw it only came with 1.5gb RAM.
Then I saw the reviews.
Then I saw the thermal imaging photos.
Then I saw the power consumption.
Then I cried a little inside.
It's a real shame, I love the driver support nVidia provides for 3D/2D applications (3ds max/Photoshop/CUDA etc).
Gonna buy a 5970 now ;\

I think it would actually bake my PC for me as im running a sileo 500 coolermaster. Nice and quiet but acts like insulation too haha.
There is some good features but if your not gonna use them why spend an extra 100 quid on a slightly faster card. Its not like it blows the 5870 out of the water more like matches it.
Get the 5970! Now that blows the 480 out of the water but it is expected as its a dual GPU monster.
