ok guys fave game has to be FM2007 atm

thinking of putting a rig together just for this,

was thinking along the lines of a asrock dual sata conroe board,

E6400 with a decent cooler
2 gig geil ram
my old Ti4200
and a pair of 74 gig raptors

thoughts pls guys

oh yes and overclocking is a certainty :)

Can you get AGP motherboards?

That may be an initial doorstep to keeping your Ti4200.
AFAIK only the Asrock DUAL-VSTA as the OP mentioned and that's hardly the best overclocking mobo available.

i tink u're better off with Gigabyte DS3 and a decent gfx. Ti4200 is almost obsolete.

because the only reason i'm upgrading is for fm2007 which doesnt need a 3d card :) the ti4200 still cuts the mustard :)

okay. u're weird. Since you're going to upgrade to C2D, might as well change the whole platform and go to PCI Express.

If not, just stick to your current setup and continue to use Ti4200. btw, what's your current setup?

current setup is

opty 146 running 2.7ghz
1 gig of ram
asrock dual sata 939 mobo
ti4200 gfx card
couple of 150 gig ide drives,
usual gubbins

going to upgrade to

C2D E6600
2 gig ram
asrock dual mobo
ti4200 gfx card
2 matching sata hd's in raid along with the old drives for storage :)
and the usual gubbins

maybe in a couple of months i could be tempted away from agp :)

I'm sure you're current setup will run FM2007 perfectly fine?? Even if you do play 3D intensive games a new PCI-E graphics card ought to do it just fine.

LOL yeah you are weird for thinking to upgrade to C2D for FM2007.

well fm2007 supports multicore cpu's :)

have you ever looked at the game? it is one of the most resource intensive games ever.

i'm sure with large database and a goodly selection of active leagues(say 50-60 i could bring a core duo to its knees.

you're right i've only seen my mate played it once and never actually played it myself.

oh well if you think it's worth it then by all mean go for it. But as others have suggested it would be wise to upgrade to PCI-E card with a much more OCable conroe mobo. That Asrock will support both AGP & PCI-E (running @ 4x) as well as your current 1Gb DDR but doesn't oc very far at all.
