Hi

I have a sandy 2500K and thought i would just try and overclock it on stock volts and see what it could do. Am on retail fan (not even sure the word heatsink qualifies for that tiny cooler :D ) so not looking to push hard or for too long.....

however i cant get it to overclock.

I have the asus board - the 130odd quid P8P67 and i stuck the multiplier up to 40 however it says "turbo" mode set for x40.

but everywhere i can see the speed of the cpu t still says 3.3ghz (actually in the bios iirc it says its a little bit faster i think) but certainly i have not seen it hit 4ghz.

my wndows 7 experience still rates the cpu @ 7.6 which is what it does at stock, so as far as i can tell it isnt even that it sits at 3.3ghz and then ramps up under load.

i also tried enabling the auto overclocking however it also seemed to have no effect.

can someone show me where in the bios i can force its base speed/mulitplier up a bit?

cheers

M.

Have you tried opening cpu-z and then running prime95? It will only go up to the overclock when it's under load. e.g., mine idles at 1.6GHz. You are doing everything right so far by the sound of it.

nope, my internet is down so could not download.

i have it now however (hope my work are not looking at the amount of carp i am downloading! ;) )

- 12megabytes a second downloads, if only i could get that on home adsl BB ;)

I managed a full win7 iso (for use with my legit key) after losing mine in around 4 min.

cheers

M.
