Guys,

My router's been connected @ 2400kbps for 322 hours now and I'm still stuck with speeds of 546.4kbps (68.3kb/s)

I would email my isp (ukfsn) but I stand a better chance of getting a answer here  :)

Any ideas? It doesn't usually take this long for your speed to increase after and re-sync does it?

Thanks.

Is this your normal connection speed? Rebooting the router often mean you get a better connection and if you do it off peak you stand a better chance of a higher speed.

If you on ADSL max the exchange works out your best speed and it only change sif you connect faster or slower for a while so leaving a router on 24/7 means you can never increase the speed.

To full test your speed you need to try the same test at different times of the day. Dont go by speed guides pick a file to download from MS as they normally have a good speed. See what speed you get then try the same file latter and see if there is any variation.

If you are being throttled it will be at peak time 4pm to midnight but also at this time is peak usages so everyone is on slowing things down

I normally stay around the 1.5/2mb mark and I never normally drop below 1mb.

I definitely seem to be stuck on a 512kbps profile atm; my speed tests over the last 5 days or so have all been constant at the same speed :(

Email time I think...

Cheers.

If I did unplug the router, how long would the speed increase take to come into effect?

If you are on max adsl it takes about 3 days for a speed increase in your profile if your on LLU you wont have a ip profile.

If your ip profile is 1 meg and you connect at 6 meg you only get 1 meg then the exchange works out your ok at 6 and increases the profile
