Am I being unreasonable?

1. You are being unreasonable
2. You do 3000 miles a year so don't need a nice/fancy car
3. You should put the money into a better house /kitchen that your wife wants (eg 330 month more expensive mortgage/better house)
4. I'd worry you're not entirely financially stable at your current salary considering your previous role was much worse pay (31k vs 21k). Could you easily get another circa 30k job?

5. It sounds like you have some marital issues if you'e not considering your wife's thoughts on these points...

Don't listen to the haters OP. When she leaves you and takes the kid and house, you'll have a depreciating BMW which you can live in! And all that for only 20 grand!

Win win

Don't kid yourself, she would get the car aswell! While he has to pay for it!:D

You really need to think about it for a while before spending that much money on a car, I made the same mistake a year ago, thought I really wanted a professional DSLR ended up forking out £2000 excluding the lens which was another ~£1000 and now I have a camera that I hardly use and is just gathering dust. Sure, it looks nice, its a cool toy and it makes captures great images but did I really NEED it?...

Did you really need to dig this thread up?

I did the same but for a special holiday. I got great photos but have barely used it since. I'm not one for walking around my neighbourhood with a DSLR.

How are things going on the car front OP?

You earn £22k a year and you are thinking of buying a £20k car. The facts speak for themselves.

Have you bought your wife have a car?

In the UK you'll probably get doused in petrol and set on fire as a paedo for doing that.

I think establishing some middle ground would be the most reasonable option. I'm sure we would all like to spend 20k on a new car, hell I'm in a better financial position than yourself with less commitments and I still can't warrant it.

Why not go for a 10k car, this thread should be more of a car suggestion than a debate on your home life. Grab an Audi A4 second hand.
