Every time somebody leaves I always throw £2 in the envelope which isn't much but still way more than most give however I'm not going to give to the next leaver.

Do you want to put in M's collection?
Why?
She's leaving
Didn't know that, where is she going to?
The seat behind
Are you serious?
Yes, she leaves that job and starts that one
Oh ok

Now here's a part of the office layout showing M's movement :D

Now you'll notice D on that layout who sat opposite me.
D got a new job, we had a collection and we even went out for a meal, D now sits behind me.

Does anybody else have to suffer this or should I just give my £2 and STFU?

That's ridiculous. Next time you go for a dump demand an envelope of cash all of your own. After all you'll be sitting somewhere else for an extended time!

Silly. The reason you get someone a leaving gift or go out for a meal or whatever is because they're leaving the company. Not their chair.

Lol a collection for someone staying in the same building? **** that, I don't put in people's collection when they leave or die.

Hah is this really not a joke?

We have desk moves all the time at work where people swap teams, or teams are moved around. Christ i'd end up paying out more than i earn in that case.

Completely crazy. They do something similar at my wifes work, if someone moves from xray to ct or mri etc, have a leaving collection. Suppose they at least move a corridor away.
