Been looking for remote desktop now for ages, but I can't find it.(Vista Ultimate)
Someone please point me in the right direction.

I looked in the place it's supposed to be, but heck if i know where it is

That would be because you didn't have the shortcut there in Accessories (duh @ me).

I've seen this a few times on Vista, not just with RDP. But random shortcuts not appearing on the start menu but they are installed.

I didn't have a movie maker one, but I'm not sure if it's there on the start menu by default?

Yeap mines there, although I haven't actually had a look at it yet
