Lol they're full of std's and zits.

I'd recommend a minimum of an i5 Intel CPU 3570k/4650k. If you plan to add a second card at a later date, pick up an i7 3770k/4770k as a minimum.

You really don't want anything like that round your house...damn.
Don't think you board supports PD? If that's the case and an overhaul is needed going 1150 and either a 4670/4770k (budget dependent) would be how i go...

Might get some prettier boys round that way :)

Mantle will help in BF4 with that CPU but for all the other games it won't. Maybe something like a 8350 will help but even then that would need to be clocked high. a 4770k is pricey but a damned good chip.

I bet those lads shop at Lidl/Poundland Matt :D

Mobo's aren't my specialty so ill leave it to others. Personally speaking ive always found Asus Motherboards very easy to use and overclock with.

Theese are all highly rated and well priced.

No real need to spend massive amounts of money on a hw board, any of the above will be good for oc'ing on as long as you get lucky with the cpu. The more expensive boards have features that 99% of users will never need/use.

The formula is a nice board Tone, but tbh it's serious overkill for the majority of people. I include myself in this bracket as i bought it because i love the look of it. The amount of options in the overclocking section is mind boggling. And for such a high end board the onboard sound is terrible.

I agree that it's overkill for most people, and that's why my preference went with the OC board (a lot of features for not a lot of price!!) the formula does look good :D

Looking back now, i could have went for a cheaper board and got the same cpu/ram oc and also saved a hundred quid for beer or other parts. At the time i bought the formula, i had a severe dose of more money than sense.:D

Get it!

Bought one from B-grade for a little less two weeks ago.

Has the best bios i have seen in any board for overclocking. A little different to standard bios' but after you set up your pages to have which clocking options you want, it makes tweaking really quick.

In fact... i am tempted to get another as a spare and to help plan my waterloops easier :)

The giga boards sound fantastic and rightly so get recommended a lot, I use a Asus Hero and it's been awesome, looks great, has great overclocking features, no problems getting my 4670k to 4.6 @1.3.
(although a lot of the oc potential is down to silicon lottery).
