Am I crazy going from U3011 to XL2420T?

I don't like 16:9. I don't like 1080p and I hate TN but I am really itching to try 120hz and have read many goods things about it on this monitor. I am thinking of selling my U3011 and 2007FP monitors and going for this BenQ XL2420T 120hz. I play a lot of counter strike and fps games. To the people who bought the XL2420T and said they would never go back to 60hz, do you still feel the same?

I love 2560x1600 but I think 120hz 2.5ms input lag can beat it?

No No No No No, You are crazy, NO

2560x1600 is 10000 x better than crappy TN 1080p. So what if its slightly faster, you loose the IPS, Large Res and awesome PLP setup.

Crazy thing to do.

if you MUST try it then buy it on its own and make ur mind up, if its not for you send it back under dsr

LOL I am thinking it's more than slightly faster though hearing things like "sooo smooth" "amazing" "never go back to 60hz" "60hz is like treacle" etc.

Also heard others with U3011 saying 120hz is so much better.

Would never go back to 60Hz for FPS gaming... you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming... however going from a Dell U3011 to a XL2420T you are in for one **** of a shock... say goodbye to deep blacks with well controlled and balanced colors.

The blacks on the U3011 are fairly poor and unless you got a sample with poor black uniformity the XL2420T is better in that regard. There is not the obnoxious IPS glow to contend with either. But I agree regarding the shock element overall.

I went from 2408WFP to a S2409 for the same reasons a few years ago and I've only had the U3011 for just over a month so it won't be too much of a shock. Worse thing for me is the 16:9 aspect ratio, that's what I missed most about the 2408WFP. I don't have a TV neither so I will miss 30" for movies but the most fun I have on my PC is playing Counter Strike.

What about buying a cheap CRT just for online FPS?

I've been mulling over a few things, tempted to get a 27" IPS 2560 @ 1440 for mmorpg's, films, general web use. Then buy a 23" 120MHz @ 1920x1080 for fps shooters, then I've got the best of both worlds.

I was thinking the same, just get the BenQ and keep the U3011 but I don't have much money. Also I bet I would just end up using the Benq all the time and it would become annoying moving it everytime I want to game/desktop use.

I think what i would do is order a 120hz monitor and try it for a week then if you like it then sell the dell but if not send the 120hz back under dsr

The Dell 3011 has a great picture but the input lag is horrible....if you're gaming a lot then the XL2420T will be very good for you.(i tried 60fps in an old game 2 days ago to get around a bug in it which was the 3rd Prince of Persia game yet even in that 60hz was horrible probably because i am so used to 120hz now.)

Definitely will not go back to 60hz ever myself unless it was a 4k res monitor then i might....which aren't out for ages.

Like others have said, get one see if you like it and if you do sell the 3011 otherwise return the XL2420T.

Also i personally do not see a huge difference colour wise coming from a HP LP2475W to this but then again i am not into photography or video editing.

Think I'm going to go for the S27A750D instead as I don't think I can go back to 24" but that is a ******* god damn 16:9 screen.

*Edit, looks like this monitor had displayport issues? Would it be stupid to go for it still in hope mine won't?

Thanks but it's too ugly imo.

Also

Hi everyone, I am new here, and a new VG278H user. To abswer some questions if the problem has been solved, the answer is not.
My local retailer (Paris) received some new batches last week, and I got min last saturday (14th of Jan).
Apart other comments such as great 3D and bad film coming from a MVA panel, I also got the same issue as reported here:

1st day, very light glow:

3rd day, surprise!

So now I consider returning despite the stunning experience in Batman AC or Trine 2.
In few days, I understood I should expect it to disappear, but is it actually true now that the first persons who had the issue have it for a long time?

Thanks!
