Am I daft to upgrade

Am I stupid to upgrade my GTX 680 to a 970 G1 knowing that I plan to upgrade to pascal next year? also my CPU is i7 920 (CO 3.6ghz clock) and I plan to wait next year for skylake E if its out by then.

Would I encounter issues with bottleneck with my choice?

What model GTX 680 is it?
You could overclock it for a small boost to pass you by until next month.

Not familiar with the i7 920 (C0) - I had the D0 and I had that at 4GHz. Are you able to overclock it at all?

Is an MSI 680 Lightning. as for the cpu I over clocked it to 3.6ghz from 2.6 ghz been like that since 2008 with a prolimatech megahalem cooler

The 970 is ~70% faster and you should see the benefit with your 920 at 3.6GHz.

Before I order would the 970 work on a P6T Deluxe V2? (X58) i been seeing some posts from last year that it does not for couple folk.

Should work ok, just to be sure id advise updating to the latest bios for the motherboard. Ive seen a few cases where newer cards didnt work on some older boards due to an outdated bios.
