i hear all these issues about 4870's being hot and different ideas on cooling them down, the a.c.a s1 with fans and a.c twin turbo etc etc

when u people are trying to cool the card down does noise come into the factor here ?
im using a fan hack in ccc that is running constantly at 45%.
with this im idling at around 34 and loading at around 58. this is after 3 hours of trackmanina / cod 4 ?

now to me these temps are very good, am i right in saying ?

mine at 55% fanspeed gets 51 at load after a few hours of f@h GPU, so your temps are correct for your fanspeed i say

If the cooler are accoustically anything like the 8800GT heatsinks then most people would find 45% fanspeed annoyingly loud.

what im saying is

when people are trying to cool their 4870s down via other means ( non stock coolers ) and are reacing similoar temps to me with my 45% profile, is this because its less noisy?

45% is not noisy at all

at 60% the 8800GT fan is the same level as my case fans. :D

^ at 60% its louder than everything else in my case, and i have to run it at 80% to keep it from crashing in crysis with my highest OC. :/

mosleypup yes, a lot of ppl would do it for noise reasons. though your rather lucky with those temps.
