Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible

My PS4 is connected to my monitor via HDMI but it doesn't have speakers but does have a 3.5mm headphone port. I have an Alexa but PS4 doesn't allow Bluetooth speakers so I bought an Aux cable and plugged Alexa into the 3.5mm port on the monitor but I'm still not getting any sound from the PS4 and I can't think of any reason why.

Here is a guess, because you have hdmi plugged in the ps4 is defaulting to sending both sound and image via hdmi. On a computer you would need to change your output to a different port for audio. Is there a setting menu for sound where you can change the output settings? I could be barking up the wrong tree totally, have you plugged Alexa into your phone via aux to see if the cable works?

I thought of that too but it didn't work, didn't output from PS4 or PC. I'll try the cable between my phone and Alexa.

You don't have 'an Alexa', it's an Echo and we would need to know which model Echo it is since I believe the only model that has an aux IN is the echo plus? This means if you have any other model then the chances are you are trying to plug the output from the monitor in to the output socket on your echo and that obviously isn't going to work.

It's an Echo Dot 3rd Gen. And your reply lays this to rest as impossible. Thanks for the help.
