Just got O2 Broadband and I'm only getting 2mb :(

I have attenuation of 57.5 down and 25 up, is this likely to be the issue? I assume 57.5 is pretty high?

Cheers

I have a mate who has the same figures yet gets 4mb....the only difference is that he was getting 2 until he removed the bell wire. Does it really make that much of a difference?

Right had a look for the master socket, can only find this:

Is this it? I assume its ancient as it doesnt look like any master socket i've seen

I'm not seeing any link or image there.... if you trace back your phone cables there will be one point they all end up at, this is the master socket. It's usually near a window frame or door frame as they're the easiest places to bring cables in from outside.

Can you not see the picture? Its linked from photobucket so should be visible. I've concluded it is my master socket, but its so old that its a complete maze of cables. It seems that each socket in the house has a different colour wired into it, which means finding which are the ring wires is going to take hours!

shoudln't do in the master socket you'll have one 3 pair cable coming in from the street with a blue pair green pair and orange pair. The green won't connect to anything, the blue is your signal pair and the orange is the ring pair. You can also check the voltages with a multimeter. Gimme a sec I'll find out what they should be. The line will be 48v i'm not sure if the ring wire is the same voltage but higher amps or lower voltage.

According to google ring voltage is going to be between 60 and 80volts, the signal pair will be about 48-50v so you should be able to identify them that way.
