Am I getting too much?

I have been wanting to get a new PC for a while, I am really close to ordering but I just had a feeling what I'm ordering is too much for what I'm going to use it for. The reason I'm upgrading is that I want to get a solid 100/150+ FPS on CS:S, as I only get around 60-70 with low settings and a modified config, and when I'm in deathmatches it can go as low as 10-15 due to all the action. I haven't overclocked before, but I might do a bit with stock cooling -- I don't really want to mess with water cooling, etc etc. My current system is:
GPU: 7600GT Palit AGP
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Mobo: A7N8X-LA
Ram: DDR PC2700

Usage:
  • Counter-Strike 1.6 @ 640x480
  • Counter-Strike: Source @ 800x600
  • Sony Vegas/vdub rendering

Games I would like to play but I can't on my current system:
  • F.E.A.R @ 1024x768 (probably)
  • World in Conflict
  • And I might try out Crysis as it looks fun.

The specs I chose were:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £121.99
(£143.34) £121.99
(£143.34)
OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £154.99
(£182.11) £154.99
(£182.11)
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £61.99

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £44.99
(£52.86) £44.99
(£52.86)
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Silver £45.99
(£54.04) £45.99
(£54.04)
Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard £81.99
(£96.34) £81.99
(£96.34)
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) £51.99
(£61.09) £51.99
(£61.09)
Total : £675.48

I wanted the motherboard as it would be good for upgrading in the future and I wouldn't have to totally re-spec out again hopefully. I don't need a monitor/keyboard/mouse, and I'm going to use the CD drive from my old PC and I have a budget of £680 maximum - Any advice?

Very fine choice there. Change the RAM to Crucial Ballistix or some CellShock (not sure if OC stock CellShock anymore) :)

EDIT: I think the case looks better in black personally :D

Yeah, so do I, but I think the silver is on this weeks offer and I'm super-tight with money :D, I was going to say by how much, but I can't even find the Lian-Li PC-7 black now  maybe I'm blind

Oh, that's odd. It's not on this weeks offers anymore. Hmm, well anyway. Which Ballistix should I get?

Ordering tomorrow.

Will it clock well without any special cooling? Same question for the CPU. What kind of results do you think I could get?

The ram will clock fine to a reasonable speed. For the real high clocks you might want some case fans blowing over them but for the most part the ram will be fine.

Stock cooler is fine for small CPU oc's. For anything worth doing you would need a aftermarket such as the Noctua/Tuniq. :)

Looks pretty sweet dude, its heartbreaking that 4 months ago i paid £800 for the same system apart you have a BETTER gpu :(
