Am I Insane?

Totally nuts.

I'd never stick more than 1.6 through unless I was intent on killing my cpu.

Also, get Coretemp on that bugger, it might be a lot hotter than everest is telling you.

Well, I have it @ 2.52 running 1.7v's through it. Temps are 38 idle. Tbh, I want an excuse to get rid of this CPU, so I can buy a 4000+ Newark.

I know :p. On the topic of performance, would a Higher FSB give me more boost? Or nono?

It would, but a64s dont particularly need the bandwith, use whichever enables you to get the lowest latencies

Fairly nuts, especially as you're probably seeing very limited returns (sorry, didn't read thoroughly). Only 2.5 with that sort of crazy voltage - doesn't seem worth it for a few hundred mhz. Brave though :)

2.6GHz with that voltage, sucks. :( If I can buy a Mobile 754 Newark for around 70quid, and get it to 3.2GHz i'm buzzing :p

how long you going to be keeping it for? I always over volt my cpu's cos I never keep em that long anyway. had the 3700 939 with like 1.7-8v going through it running at 2.8Ghz for over a year (still working perfect in another pc now).

I've had this CPU for over 2 years, well 3 years in March '07. Running it @ this 24/7 now. Well daily use anyway.

got 1.7v's through it. Here

Hang on. Thats nessasarily totally nuts.

Whats the stock voltage? Do you know what type of core it is? It could be an older .13micron chip like the Newcastle.

I would never put more than 1.6v through either of my Semprons but their stock voltage is 1.375v IIRC

However if the stock voltage is 1.5v and the temps are low then your only overvolting by about 12%@1.7v which should be fine.

If you could run CPUZ and post a screenie that would help Vita

Yes it is a .13micron chip, and yes it's a NewCastle.
1.5 are stock voltages.
Got 1.74v through it, but CPUz tends to jump them around lol.
