My 6870 not working like It should, I got a hint that the card was left in a 79hz(35.4khz/79hz 'out of range') mode which is higher than my monitor, but even couldn't get anywhere on my mums partners curve 4k TV through hdmi(out of range bit was vga)..

Now currently I got the card hooked up in my 2nd pcie slot while my 6670 is my main, obviously can't be crossed fired, but all is not lost, windows has detected the 6870 and states it's working properly as shown in this pic..

Now the optimistic part - I have done this to make sure the card works and hope I can change its settings, but am I wishful thinking or can it actually be done?

Does the card post to bios? does bios show before windows loads?

if so then i would uninstall all display drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller then fresh install drivers.

If you plug in a monitor to the 6800 if it is just setup wrong, it should show the display. Then you should be able to select the displays properties and change the refresh rate.

The 6870 doesn't post, hdmi does nothing, but when something does happen it's the 'out of range' bit through vga (Dvi adapter on card) on my monitor basically to my knowledge that it's been set too high for screens that don't go over 75hz..

It runs, but odd times power button instantly turns off.

The computer shows in device manager and says it's working and obviously GPu-z shows it listed, haven't connect a cable to the 6870 as I didn't think anything would happen.

I can only adjust the 6670 as that's what's running windows, the asus p5q deluxe has no monitor socket so relies on a dedicated card.

I could try uninstalling the drivers and reinstall to see if that sets it to normal
