I currently own a Gainward 3870

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail

After having my last card overheat and break i was pleasently surprised to see this ran at 29 degrees idle. Now, i am yet to get a temperture reading whilst in game. But after gaming say 2-3 hours the card is still very cool to the touch and CCC is yet to display it being over 45 degrees when i quit. Looking online, it seems some people get 50 degrees idle temp with 80 degrees in game.

My set up is one large fan on the front of my case with a smaller one at the back. The PSU fan takes heat off the CPU fan as well (which also idles at 30 degreesish)

So, am i just really really lucky, or do you think somethig is being read wrong?

3870 runs cool in my system i can't get load to go over 55 as i run 75% fan on the gpu as my zalman fatality cpu cooler is so loud that the gpu fan sounds around the same noise. The review on the zalman said it was a little noisy i tend to think its far to noisy but it cools my cpu well.

Yeah cool. Well everything is cool to the touch so it must be ok haha. I guess its the die shrink thats made the 3870 cool. And my fan on the card just runs on auto...so it isnt even using 75% fan. probably like 20% hehe
