am i missing something?

So I bought a ATI Radeon HD 6850 a few days ago and it arrived today.
Due to problems with my other order the rest of the pc isn't arriving till monday, but I opened up the card box anyway - Who can resist?!

I was surprised to find just the power cable, drivers cd, card and a quick installation guide in the box.
There's no identifiable sticker or writing anywhere on the card (as in picture), and no normal documentation - Just a small unfoldable piece of paper that has the basic quick installation guide in which is non-specific (it looks like it's used for any graphics card)


Just wondering if i'm missing something..because i'd hate to find that when I want to get down and build it!

You're fine, the OcUK cards can sometimes be generic and unbranded.

All you need is the card, bin the driver CD and download the latest drivers off the Net. Drivers are usually updated at least once a month so the CD will be out of date.

And after opening it and telling my friend he just said I shouldn't have opened it yet due to static or something..?

Is that a serious concern or is he being a dick..

Good idea to ground yourself before touching any electrical compnent. (I've not heard of anyone break something via static, but why risk it)

You see hundreds of videos on YouTube unboxing gpus etc. they never ground themselves! I wouldn't worry about touching it.

You would never know if they did or not unless they mentioned it.

Static killing hardware is very rare but you shouldn't encourage it. When you handle cards, ram etc try not to handle the terminals and you're pretty safe.
