Am I nuts to consider this?

Got the pics working and it looks a bit marmite. While it's fast I wouldn't spend £20k on it.

I'd either go for a R33-GTR or a Supra and have some ££ left over.
 
I'm no expert but £20k sounds like a hell of a lot for a modified S2000 that's going to have pretty limited appeal when you want to sell it on.

If you're after a 'supercar' then £20k buys you an Elise with an Audi/Honda engine conversion. 0-100mph in ~8s and handling/feedback that you wouldn't believe is possible until you drive one.
 
I Love the S2000, i really do. it is the only thing i will consider after my ep3.

After a brief passenger ride in your FN2 si, I must admit. It didn't feel as urgent as I anticipated.
You have owned a lot of mental cars so can probably judge best from your own experience.

In itself, your fn2 is a great car with a formidable spec list. However, if you want something else, go for it.

What I would suggest though, maybe stay away from project cars. If someone has gone and stuck spoon stickers and monkeys on their car then perhaps get a standard S2000 and do the upgrades yourself.

In my opinion, this would be the only way to get the car 100% how you want it.
That way it would be special to you.

As a prospective future s2k owner, I do feel that it isn't the best choice as a tuning platform though.

Not really - most superchargers provide an ever-increasing boost the further up the rev range (because they are being spun faster). So as long as the injectors can keep up, you can keep revving to 9k :D
