Am I nuts?

I've had my samsung galaxy s2 pretty much since release day, and it's a great phone - I'm really happy with it.
Last night however I won a HTC Desire HD in a bet and after having a quick play with it I'm feeling tempted to switch. It feels better built than the S2, I prefer the design, and sense UI is really nice.
That said, the specs are obviously lower than my current phone, the camera isn't as good, and HTC have said they won't be bringing ICS to it, although doubtless independent developers will.
Although it feels really fast, I'm worried that once I put all my apps on it and use it as a day to day phone I'll find it lacking and wish I had my SGS2 back.
Money isn't really a consideration as either way I'll be making money.
So, what would you do in my position? Am I crazy to be even thinking of switching? Are there any massive disadvantages to the desire hd that I've missed?

Yes you are insanse.

The DHD is average at best for HTC. Sucky battery life, Awful loud speaker, awkward battery assembly.

It doesnt feel better its just the material they use has that perception id actually say its worse built. i had gaps around the screen so dust and crud fill the gaps almost every DHD i have used also has a nasty creaky sound when you push the bottom.

The SGS2 is an infinity better than DHD, i should know i have had both.

I dont mind SENSE at all but it does start to grind and slow down and turns into more of a hinderence overtime imo

I think you know which is the better phone but it's your preference. If you prefer it, then go for it and use it :)

Sell both and get a galaxy nexus! I have the Desire HD and it's a decent phone though I use it as a backup to my WP7. Sense can be replicated with launcher pro and other widgets so wouldn't swap for sense alone.
Resale on both these phones is dropping rapidly at the moment with the new stuff coming out so good time to sell and upgrade I think, though to be fair all android and WP7 devices don't hold value well, only the iphone does and that's because they only release one every year and of course apple is very popular for your general non techie on the street.

I think HTC Sense can be quite appealing to some people, it has a lot of nice/joined up widgets and thinking behind it, and I can see how that might sway someone over the SGS2 where Samsungs OS tailoring is rather less coherent.

However, the SGS2 hardware is immense, and more future proof..

I personally run a HTC Desire HD on stock gingerbread (CM7) overclocked to 1.5Ghz and use Launcher Pro, it's so smooth with amazingly better battery life that I am happy to stick with it until ICS matures a little, and then I'll probably get something like teh SGS2 hardware wise, but with a plain ICS firmware on it (Optimised firmware that is..)

Get yourself to the most expensive doctor you can afford, something's not right :p

In all honesty, If you like the Desire then just keep it. Sell the SGS2 for a tidy sum.

No you are not nuts, I would personally choose the GS2 but it's all about personal preference, I have had a Desire HD for over a year now and performance wise it can play 720p video, play all of the current games and yes does feel "better" than the GS2.

Battery lasts about 24 hours with the normal use you get out of the phone over any 24 hour period.

Sure the GS2 dual core and much more powerful, but do I actually notice that difference when using one versus the other? No, not really.

At the end of the day it's down to which phone you prefer using day to day. I had a DHD for 3 days and sold it, because it just wasn't for me. I kept my GS2 for 6 months. But it really is your choice - there's no shame in going for something lesser-specced.

depends what you value the most out of a phone but definitely not nuts.
The DHD undoubetly DOES feel better in the hand / better made and if thats the number one thing for you then stick with it.

Every other possible comparison the GS2 comes out on top though :)

Thanks for all those responses. I've thought about it all day and have decided to go with my head, i.e. the SGS2 :p The desire HD is now up for sale (£185 if anyone is interested ;))

No, you aren't nuts. You're just demonstrating that there is more to the overall experience than hardware specs alone.

Having said that, the Desire HD really isn't a good handset, only the software is comparable (arguably better) with the Galaxy S II. It doesn't feel good in the hand either, it's large, slippery and has bits of plastic tacked on that are just awful. :(

Have a go on a Sensation, you might love that.
