Ok, i posted a day or two ago with a problem that after switching on the pc it powers down virtually insantly afterwards. I got a new PSU from OCUK to try (didnt have one spare) and that hasnt changed anything.

I tried different ram and gpu in the board to no avail. The only thing I havent swapped over is the CPU (again not possible) but if it was that usually there is some sort of beep from the mobo.

So I think its the mobo myself, does everyone agree with this conclusion?

MSI K8N Neo Platinum nForce3 250 (Socket 754) Motherboard (MB-022-MS)
Price: £40.00 (£47.00 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Found that in the clearence section, if I remember it wasnt a bad board back in the day. Worth the cash?

I'm no expert but it could well be the MBD or it could be badly seated components, heat issues?, faulty CPU? or not enough power maybe?

have you tried to boot it up with nothing but bare essentials in it ?
I.e. cpu, one stick of memory VGA card/onboard Video, no HDD or optical drives though.

try taking the m/b out of the case and running it on a table ontop of an anti static bag just to make sure its not a grounding issue

Just tried that, same problem occurs. So is this definitely pointing to a mobo problem?

It is looking like a mobo issue to me. Personally i would get the new mobo and try it, if it fixes my problem then super. If not, I can just sell it or my old one on. :)

Either way £40 is not a lot to spend on trying to fix your PC. A lot better than spending £200 on a new CPU in error anyway :D
