I thought at work the other day that the place seemes to have turned into an ipod owners club. It's been ages since I last saw someone else with a mindisc player. Are there any more users out there?

Retired my MD's a while ago.
I have a personal Minidisc player which I used to carry around - however that was replaced by an iPod.
My Sony stereo at home has built-in MD but again I very rarely use it.

It was a great little format while it lasted, but it doesn't really offer anything now that you can't do better with other formats.

I used it until very recently. Unfortunately I dropped my N1 so I bit the bullet and went for an ipod. I've not really looked back I have to say. I would still use an MD for microphone recording though.

I tried a ipod a while back. It was a 4th gen with a monochrome screen. I found the sound very dull compared to my minidisc. I used my ex71 earphones on both. Has this been improved on newer ones?

I would still be using MD if my deck hadn't broken. Since it has and I can't repair it myself, nor is a having it fixed reasonable (it was £100 to start with and its the optics that have broken) I can no longer record discs. I have a portable player though which I can play my old stuff on, but there isn't really enough to take it anywhere. I have considered Mp3 players but feel they are of too limited use for me personally now (as any portable music player is). They are good for people who are often on public transport, but even then you'll need to crank up the volume (to damaging levels with earbud types on a bus for instance) or wear big phones to block out the engines and people.
