This is why I am feeling such contempt for the way in which this Labour government has run this country for the last 12 years, their intrusive and invasive policies which threaten all of our civil liberties yet we stand by idly while we are ushered into a new dawn of totalitarianism.

Am I the only one who feels the hostility this government has for me. As a hard working tax payer, a non drinker, non smoker, as someone who has no criminal record, why do they need to watch EVERYTHING that I do..IN REAL TIME!! because that's what is slowly happening.

There are probably less camera's in a high security prison than there are following me on my way to work.... why have we allowed this intrusion.

There are so many things to list about what this government are doing, tapping our phones and intercepting our E-mails, searching our bins and charging us for the view from our window.. WHAT THE HELL!!

If you do happen to throw something out that is in the wrong recycle bag you are fined. You are more than likely going to pay that fine because you are a law abiding citizen and its too much hassle to kick up a stink!!

But there is a whole set of other rules for people who live a life of criminality. They operate a different playing field. One senior Met officer was quoted recently saying "you can be a career criminal in this country and not serve any time"..

This country has a message for us all.

If you work hard and you are a decent person and want to improve you life, you are going to have to pay for it, and we will do everything we can to make that as difficult as possible.


On the other hand, if you want to sponge from the benefit system, sit on your backside all day playing games and watch Jeremy Kyle, maybe sell drugs on the side or even go burglarise a few elderly people, we will understand your a victim of your circumstances, we will council you and help reform you, and we will do everything we can to make you life as fulfilling as possible..

Rant over but I am ******* off with this government...I really am!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
 
I'm fed up with the government, I'd be annoyed but honestly I don't have the energy for it. Nothing surprises me these days.
 
More CCTV cameras the better. If your not doing anything you got nothing to worry about. I can't remember walking around town conscious of a speed camera that is watching me.
 
don't care about the cameras so much. Why are you worried about that? I agree with you about treating criminals with a feathered touch though. Disgraceful.

Don't know what to say really...

living in the country side and working out in the middle of nowhere I know I am not being 'watched' 24/7

I don't recycle really except cans/bottles when I can be bothered and have yet to have any fines

but positive discrimination is made of labour ghey so have a :mad: for the thread :D
 
Dont meet any cameras until i actually get to my place of work where the cameras are for security tbh. Dont see what all the fuss is about, i go to work, earn my wage, pay for my house and live as i please doing whatever i want.
 
Theres approx 20 CCTV cameras on my 10 minute walk to work... I live on the edge of town as well and I'm walking out of town to an out of town trading estate... not sure how many of these are hooked into any central system and some might be dummy even... but it does feel a tad creepy when I stop to think about it.

why? No one is really interested in what your doing anyway.
 
Whats easy to make money, whats hard to make money.
Capturing speeding motorists, easy.
Invetsigating complex crimes, even simple crimes with little scene evidence, hard.

You pick what you'll pile resources into.


Jails shouldn't need cameras at all, I prefer the US system of punishment rather than our retardation of reeducation. Our system fails, there system do no better, but people go away for a proper longtime, and get to work for pittence, or get to do hard labour. Something we abolished years ago.

Breaking rocks for 40 years will encourage most murderers and rapists not to do it again. I'm willing to undertake the 60 year study into my method of reoffending prevention. Just give me the cash and 50% of the UK prision population, a few uninhabited islands off the coast of scotland, an offhsore electric farm, and lots of electric fences.

No escape, no riots, no breakouts, no social workers. If people turn out to be innocent, its not the prison systems fault how it treated them, its the criminal justices system fault for putting them away in the first place, so someone else can apologise and pay out.

See you're just getting carried away with yourself. How is your depiction of the erosion of civil liberties in any way demonstrative of lack of opportunity for those willing to work hard?

Since when has thomas paine been the best source for what the government should do?? (American Revolutionary writers always have a slightly perverse idea behind government)

Eitherway i dont really agree with the new "politics of fear" that has emerged over the last 10-15 (maybe up to 25) years, where by policy is built around threat and fears of attack from other (non nation state) sources. Aka terrorism's inadvertent grip on politics.

But whining that there's lots of cctv cameras isnt really the biggest problem out there (by a long way), i mean the government doesnt even sit there and personally watch them do they?? I would have thought the creating of a few thousand new (and relitivly pointless offences) or the miss management of the economy a much more annoying thing??
 
Ive not worked long enough to pay tax yet but im pretty sure ill be out to a different country that hopefully looks after you well instead of punishing for everything like you say.
