Am I too old?

As has been said, age is just a number.

But yes, you do sound too old to be gaming.
I think you would be happier doing something more sensible. Like gardening.

Funny you should say that... im 30 this year and still into my gaming but just started some "gardening." Currently trying to grow the hottest chillies in the world! Its good fun :o argh i must be getting old!

I'm 29 and my friends of the same age are gamers although mostly consoles. What has age got to do with it anyway? Absolutely nothing, what would you rather do, watch Phil and Peggy talk about the same old crap over and over, if a girl gives me grief for gaming I literally tell them to do one, I would rather game than be force fed that crap on TV

Age has nothing to do with it, wether you're 15 or 55 gaming is a form of entertainment

Well past 30...

Problem is not age but time, and a dire ISP. I'm mainly playing CO4. But don't do COD or similar when the kids are around.

You're not too old, if you enjoy it, do it, if you don't, don't play that simple.

Gaming is entertainment that's easy to get in to (for the most part) and enjoy for everyone. I'm a typical in the 20's guy, and play quite a bit (but not as much as I used to due to work and stuff) but play when I can.

I really dislike this notion that older people / females / whomever "shouldn't" play.

Give it another 20 years and you won't see that attitude at all. The first generation of gamers are in their 40's now. In another 20 years most people still alive will have grown up with gaming, and the people who don't game will be in the minority.

Then peace and goodwill shall reign!

39 and play WoW mostly.Been married for 18 years and have his 'n hers computers for her to play WoW too :D

It is a happy house mostly, except for when she has to feel the *Pain* in UT hehe

My boys (17 and 15) play too, sometimes get 4 player games of worms going.Awesome tbqfh.

38. My wife hates gaming, but I bought her a horse to keep her busy whilst I'm on my PC.

And as WNB (below) does, I get most of my gaming in after the wife goes to bed. (She has to get up early to feed the horse, see? :) ).

I am 41 and play about 2 hours most nights after the wife goes to bed. Once or twice a week it will be 4 hours. But if she is watching crap on tv I refuse to watch it with her so I'm back on the pc.

Its a hobby, tell the wife you are jacking in the gaming and will be going to the pub instead 2-3 hours every night. I am sure she will change her mind in the end.

31. Never too old. Computer gaming is something i've been doing since 7 or 8, grown up with it so to speak as Sleepery said.

Having said that I dont play anywhere near as much (wife/kids/life in general), but, still do 6-7 hours a week, most of that on a Monday when the better half sits down to her Corrie/Eastenders/Corrie TV combo-punch special :)

30 here and been into gaming since the good old spectrum :). Most of my mates dont play much if at all nowadays and I prefer good single player stuff really. Haven't played online seriously for ages now - too many damn kids:p.

Luckily my wife accepts my hobby - in fact she bought me my PS3 and we bought the Wii together and she likes that from time to time (though seems to prefer this facebook word game to anything else in life at the moment:)). Hell she even doesn't mind my strange recent compulsion to buy some expensive transformers from Japan :). Not toys, of course, oh no - adult collectors items! Investments even - better than gold probably. She even encouraged me by buying me more.

The person who really thinks i should play a little less games is myself - have a scratch-build sports car in the garage to finish too.

As said - age is just a number. Some good words of wisdom i once heard: You don't stop playing because you get old - you get old because you stop playing :)

Enjoy

Edited to clarify: too many damn kids online - not referring to my own (if i had any) as 'damn kids' :) Though i might do when i have some - who knows

25. I stopped gaming for a couple of years because i just got bored of it, but been playing starcraft 2 and BC2 recently and have really got into SC2. I might be sad but I dont care, its my life. I still do all the 'cool' stuff anyway like going out, festivals, activities, sport, holidays etc

My dad still goes on DOD source and Soldier of Fortune 2 sometimes. He loves it (he's 52)
My mum doesnt mind and loves a game on Soda pipes every now and again

Gaming is just another form of entertainment, like watching TV or listening to music.

If your family/friends are giving you grief about it, just get them hooked on World of Warcrack, that'll shut them up. :)

I'm in my 40s. It's mildly entertaining if people who spend hours sat passively watching a TV criticise me for gaming.

It's an issue if your wife makes it one, but that's true of anything. It might be a real issue, but in that case it would be the time spent not with her rather than what you're doing in that time.

I thought this too.. its just a new medium.. do people say "hey your too old too watch tv" :p at least gaming is interactive and social, I've made many friends from all over the world and i get to share an experience with them, cant say the same for just watching tv. Again this is the modern age this is a new medium we enjoy so whats the problem if someone other then a kid wants to play a game, beats watching rubbish dramas and boring mind numbing television.
