Am i using both cores?

Just installed a x2 3800 i bought months ago but never installed, it says 2 cores in cpuz, in task manager shows 2 cores etc, but i jus ran super pi and it was only 50% cpu usage in task manager, and in cpu usage history only 1 of the cores showed high activity, how come its not using both cores?

do i need to do something to get windows to use both cores?

Superpi is single threaded. I believe if you Google around you'll find a new version of Superpi that properly supports multi threading.

just that i was searching around to see what kinda clocks people got with 3800 and read this thread so wanted to see what i got with superpi, but nobody mentioned it was single core anyway so the fact the guy has x2 doesnt matter

If task manager looks like this, then everything is working ok. Because pi uses 50% TOTAL that shows it is working, if you set it to one core only it'll run at 100% of one core, but take the same amount of time, but your computer will be sluggish. If you can use a pi prog to use 100% of each core (100% + 100%) then it'll do the calculation twice as quick, but system will be sluggish.
