Can anyone build themselves a PC? I'm in the market to replace my ageing system, but am fed up with the noise from my existing PC the so would really like to build myself a quiet one.

Mostly for photo and video work, so I have spec'd the following:

Thing is, I've never done more than install a 2nd hard drive before. Am I going to end up with the system I want, or an expensive paperweight?

Cheers.

Its like a giant jigsaw with few parts and its obvious where they fit :)

Just take your time and everything will be dead straight forward :)

I could build a PC with MS-DOS multiple configs eeking out 2K more RAM and getting mouse, soundcard drivers installed to get Ultima 7...at 12 years old.

So if someone can't build a Windows XP/Vista machine with the given right parts, they're a idiot.

built my first pc 18 month ago, i was terrified lol but its pretty much straight forward really.

in that 18 month ive built and rebuilt over a dozen rigs and learnt the skill of overclocking in between;)
