My brother purcahsed a 125 Hipster bike over 2 years ago, it spent 8 months sitting in the show room and the rest its been in my nans shed.

He turned up today to take it to our dads house, about 7 miles away!

Now hes got no insurance, no experience riding, no CBT or bike licence and no tax, not to mention its not in the best state since its been sitting for so long. Oh, its still unregistered and has no licence plate.

If they can get it started he is planning on riding it back to my dads.

Ive just come back from the police station, ive told them the plan and the rest is up to them.

In the same situation would you shop in your mate or relative?

Had it of had just no tax then it wouldnt bother me as much, but i think he is just taking the ****!!

Did you confront him about it before you grassed him up?

Seems a bit low to do that to your brother.

Mac

I spoke to him about the risks but he doesnt care, my dad has a list of criminal vehicle convictions and my brother is taking after him.

I'm glad you're not my brother, lets put it that way. You will regret doing that.

What if he ran into your nice motor? Managed to really cause some damage. And what if you were only 3rd party insurance, youd be buggered!

Not to mention his pure lack of experience makes him an extreme hazard!

I'd suggest that it depends how you explained the situation to the police.
Personally I'd ask them to have a polite chat with your brother, i.e. give him a stern talking to and put the willies up him, but not to take it as far as putting him in a cell and throwing the key away.
A little "sense of direction" from the cops might well help.

He is now 22 years old and had several cautions for this sort of thing before, he even managed to roll a nova throug someones front lawn fence. Luckily no one was hurt but he had no insurance to pay for the damages.

Had this of been a first time thing i wouldnt of gone so far.

Im assuming he is the older brother.

And respect doesnt necessarily mean not giving him a slap around.

Im the older one, im 24 and yes ive tried to help him but all he does it take the ****. Borrows money and never pays it back, leeches of everyone, works 3 days a week in a bar and drinks all the money away.

I have tried to help him so many times but im fed if with being kicked in the nuts for my efforts.

I would like to think that shopping a family member to the police is low, i cant see the brother being too thankful for it.

Maybe you should have warned him that you were going to go to the police, so he could have arranged for it to be all legal before he moved it.

Going behind his back is just snide

He knew where i stood on it, i even offered to register and tax the bike over a year ago if i could use it for short tuns to and from work while he was away but he refused.

Tonight, i even offered to do a straight swap, his unregistered 125 for my old 1.4 golf, he refused.

He has had 2 years to "legally" move it, and hasnt.

Fair enough dude. But then i did post a few preferable cures (stealing the keys, giving him a clip around the ear).
Just think it was a bit raw getting the police envolved at this point n all.

these would be options with normal people, but they are very petty. He once thought i had taken a bottle of whiskey from his room (which i hadnt because i hardly drink) so my g/fs car window got put through and i had to cover it because i couldnt "prove" it was him.

it would have caused so many problems if i had taken the keys. My dads rather mental, he once tipped petrol over himself and his g/f while she was in the bath and her 3 young daughters where in the other room asleep.

If id of taken the keys id of had them bothering me all the time, including things like messing about with my car engine. For getting the police involved will probably result in me getting a smack in the mouth and that would be the end of it.

However, just been to my nans and they couldnt get the bike started anyway!
