hey guy and girls am planning on asking my gf to marry me we have been together for 3 years we both love each other a lot. the thing is am not too good at this sort of thing the line i can come out with is fine but how much do i spend on a ring and where would be a good place to do it ?

IIRC the standard expected amount to spend on a ring is 2 months salary. You might as well make it a moment to remember. It all depends on your personalities. If you are lively people, do something outrageous like propose at the top of a mountain or if you are a more sedate couple do something more traditional. It's a personal thing which you'll have to decide yourself though.

yeh sounds bout right will have to find her a good one am i best proposing and then taking her to pick a ring or am i best buying a ring proposing and then getting the ring altered to fit her finger if its needed ?
 
After 3 years you should have a rough idea on her tastes so I would suggest buying the ring first and getting it altered if necessary.

yeh i know what she likes but trying to propose at a hradcore metal gig is abit hard so need to find somewhere else think al go with the months salery and get the ring before hand

the real reason is that me and the missus got engaed over 10 years ago when I was a bit hard up , shes had the option of replacing it but doesn't want to so I gave her a bracelet with 12 carat of diamonds on our wedding day
 
i say spend whatever you think is enough to spend on a ring that she will like, who cares how little or much it is, as long as your happy with it and shes happy with it
