AM2 DDR2 memory choices?

Hi all

Bonus time has arrived, so just looking at a new system. My old rig is Socket 754 + AGP, so its pretty much an entire new system I need.

Am tempted to go with an AM2 x2 based system (not FX-6x) on an MSI K9 mobo, and I wont be overclocking anything (well, not by much anyway :) ). Any recommendations for a 1Gb or 2Gb choice?

(I dont see any DDR2 800 options on OcUK, the DDR2 667 will slow things down I think, and the DDR2 1066+ are expensive and would be underclocked on this system anyway)

Or should I just wait for Conroe? :)

Thanks for you help, it is appreciated.

HI there

OcUK now has loads to offer. We have Corsair upto PC2-8500 speeds which at OcUK we've had running at over 1200MHz without problems.

We also have a large range from Crucial, OCZ and some highly overclockable units from G.Skill too. So we have a superb range available now. :)

Agree unless you're particularly brave I'd wait a while. I have the ASUS M2N32-Sli m/board and have had no end of troubles with memory choice. Seems to be a common problem with other users as the m/board seems particularly choosy. General consensus is to stick to the ASUS recommended list of memories and the Corsair XMS2-6400C4 seems to be the best of the bunch.
