AM2 Mobo - Is this normal?

I have had this AM2 Mobo for a couple of years now with a Phenom Quad in it.

I upgraded my mobo today and I was reminded of something I noticed when I first had this motherboard.

I don't know what the technical terms are, but the white 'slot/clip' above the where the CPU sits, as seen in the picture below feels pretty lose. If I put some upward pressure on the area I've circled, the white clip will pop right off - It will clip back on but doesn't click back on perfectly tight. The clip you lift up and pull down doesn't really feel like it has much resistance either.

Is this normal? Would this affect the performance of anything?

i wouldn't imagine so , the hsf will vare down on the cpu pushing it back into place, check the back of the mobo for any dry or loose solder around that area too.

I did look at the back of the mobo but their was nothing lose.

Anyone else seen anything like this before? I want to buy another AMD CPU for it so I can build a better media PC but I don't want to take any risks. But saying that it worked fine in my previous PC for 2 years like that.
