I've been looking for the last 2 days for info on updating my old AMD 2500+ Barton, 1gb DDR Ram.
Reason is my 3 x Hyundi B91D 19" TFT's + Matorx Triplehead2go.

2 week ago i bought a SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON X1950 PRO 512MB AGP. It worked great, but it will only go up to a resolution of 2400x600 with my Th2go. And only 2 desktop screens. ( I should have checked before I bought it ). Sold it on the bay. Going to buy equivalent nVidia.

But i might as well update CPU, mob, Ram and go Pci-e for GC. But i'm confused which to go for. AMD have so many CPU, which do i go for? I think the best is Dual Core. The 2 below are about the same price. But which is better? I play games,(single sceen at the minute) and internet a lot with 3 screens open to differrent sites.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ 2.40GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail
or
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

Or do i go for the cheaper. So extra money for other stuff.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2.00GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail
or
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail

( is this 3800+ Dual core better than the single core)?

All help pleae. I'm a bit thick.

OK. I'm sold. C2D it is.
But now my next question. Do i go for E4300, E6300, E6400 or E6600?
Would it be best to go for E6300 and overclock? If so, which motherboard?
I only need 2 SATA 150 ports. And DDR2. Pci-e slot. Cheaper the better, but would pay for the best OC.
