AM2 Retail Heatsink

I have an Athlon AM2 Retail package CPU and was wondering if I should scrape of the thermal pad on the heatsink and apply some silver thermal compund I have. BTW I will not be overcloking the CPU.

i would say yes. i just upgraded my mobo and vid card, when i tried to remove the heat sink, it pulled the CPU out of the socket and bent some of the pins. The past was really thick on the stock cooler this time i just used some Arctic silver im getting temps of around 24 deg c to 34 deg c
