and if so could you spec an am2 system up for me =D ????

If you can wait for the AMD price drop you might as well get a Conroe in my opinion. But if you go AMD, I would be inclined to say go AM2 as at least it has some hope of future upgrades.

basically wait for conroe to be released whichever route you decide to take as it will be beneficial price wise

I agree with the sentiments above. Now is a bad time to upgrade because the CPU market is going to change quite dramatically in roughly 3 weeks time. Nevertheless, here is a spec for you to consider:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-126-IN)
£152.69
Asus P5B (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-151-AS)
£117.44
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 LA PC2-5300 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-5400PHU2-2GBLA) (MY-012-GS)
£117.44
BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-025-BG)
£117.44
Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 NCQ 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (0A31636) (HD-002-HI)
£55.17
Antec SLK3800BUK Black Quiet Midi Tower Case - 400W SmartPower PSU (CA-048-AN)
£53.23

Total inc VAT: £613.41

From what we've seen, AM2 only offers a ~5% increase in performance over Socket 939. In this wolf's opinion, you should wait until Conroe is released (or even a few weeks after when it drops in price, but it's already dirt-cheap) or just stick with Socket 939 as they'll be some huge price-cuts in that area soon as AMD are discontinuing it. Rumour is that the X2 3800+, for example, may drop to as low as £99.
