I have heard a lot about the Core 2 Duo being ownage but does that £150 more you spend on the Core 2 worth it if im using it for basic gaming, Grpahics editing & general use?

Why is the Core 2 Duo better than the AM2, i know the Core 2 has a bigger L2 Cache but does it really make that much difference?
